Bharat Mata Mandir is a unique multi storey spiritual and patriotic landmark rising 180 feet high in Motichur near Haridwar. Founded in 1983 by Swami Satyamitranand Giri Maharaj and inaugurated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, this iconic 8 storey monument is dedicated to Mother India (Bharat Mata) and the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand.
Unlike conventional sectarian temples, each of the eight floors here is thoughtfully themed to honor different facets of Indian civilization. The ground floor enshrines the grand statue of Mother India holding sheaves of grain in one hand and milk vessel in another, symbolizing national unity and abundance.
Ascending floors honor India great freedom fighters (Shoor Mandir), revered saint women (Matru Mandir), Vedic philosophers and gurus (Sant Mandir), all Indian states and assembly halls (Vibhuti Mandir), and diverse religious traditions. The eighth top floor is dedicated to Lord Shiva, looking over the Himalayan foothills.
An elevator service connects all eight floors for elderly visitors and families with young kids. Panoramic views of the Sapt Sarovar canal and surrounding hills await at the top level.
