Swargashram is an iconic spiritual township tucked along the eastern banks of the sacred River Ganga near Ram Jhula in Rishikesh. Built in memory of Swami Vishudhanand (popularly known as Kali Kamli Wale Baba), this tranquil heritage zone has served as the epic center of yoga, Vedic studies, and spiritual meditation in Uttarakhand for over a century.
The precinct is completely pedestrianized and free from automotive noise, creating an atmosphere of deep meditative calm. It is home to numerous legendary institutions including Parmarth Niketan, Gita Bhawan, and the Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia).
Along the stone paved lanes, travelers can discover traditional Ayurvedic pharmacies, spiritual bookstores, handloom khadi shops, and vegetarian cafes. At dusk, thousands gather at the riverfront ghats to participate in soul stirring Ganga aartis and meditation satsangs.
Visitors can attend drop in yoga classes, listen to philosophy lectures at Gita Bhawan, or sit quietly on pristine sandy river beaches. Boat ferries connect Swargashram to the western bank opposite Ram Jhula.

Swargashram is situated on the eastern bank of the Ganga in Jonk village, directly across Ram Jhula suspension bridge.
Swargashram is ideal to visit between September and April when cool breezes sweep through the foothills.
