Gita Bhawan is a historic spiritual complex and charitable pilgrim haven situated on the banks of River Ganga in Swargashram near Rishikesh. Managed by the renowned Gita Press Gorakhpur, this expansive complex is dedicated to the preservation of Vedic culture and Sanatana Dharma literature in Uttarakhand.
A defining feature of the complex is its vast inner courtyard walls, decorated with all 700 verses of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita along with intricate fresco murals depicting episodes from the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Visitors can read complete Sanskrit verses alongside Hindi translations while strolling the corridors.
Gita Bhawan features over 1,000 residential rooms providing free accommodation to visiting pilgrims and spiritual seekers. It also houses an authentic Gita Press retail bookstore selling sacred texts at heavily subsidized prices, a specialized Ayurvedic dispensary, and its own private bathing ghat.
Free pure vegetarian meals (prasad) and herbal tea are served daily to staying devotees. Morning and evening satsangs feature continuous Vedic discourses by learned scholars.
