Santala Devi Temple, also revered as Santaura Devi Temple or Santla Devi, is a historic cliff top shrine situated atop a scenic ridge in Punjabiwala village near Jaitunwala in Dehradun. Overlooking the winding Nun River and lush Garhwal valleys, this fort like temple is a symbol of faith and valor in Uttarakhand.
According to regional folklore, when the Gorkha warriors were under fierce siege by Mughal invaders, Princess Santala Devi and her brother realized defeat was imminent. Rather than surrendering, they dropped their weapons and prayed intensely to Goddess Durga, transforming instantly into sacred stone idols on the mountain summit.
Devotees visit the hilltop to seek divine blessings for courage, prosperity, and family well being. The final ascent involves an invigorating 2 kilometer stepped hiking trail through terraced agricultural fields and pine scented woodland paths.
Saturdays are considered the most auspicious day for pilgrimage. Panoramic viewpoints along the ridgeline offer splendid vistas of the Doon Valley and Himalayan foothills.

Santala Devi Temple is situated in Punjabiwala village near Garhi Cantt, roughly 16 kilometers northwest of Dehradun Clock Tower.
