Laxman Siddh Temple is an ancient sacred shrine tucked amidst the dense Sal jungle canopy along the Haridwar Rishikesh highway in Dehradun. Revered as one of the four legendary Siddh Peethas surrounding the Doon Valley, this forested sanctuary holds profound mythical significance in Uttarakhand.
According to the Ramayana and local lore, Lord Rama younger brother Lakshmana performed rigorous penance (tapasya) here to atone for killing the demon prince Meghnad (Indrajit) in Lanka. It is also believed to be the samadhi site of the revered sage Swami Laxman Siddh.
Along with Kalu Siddh, Manak Siddh, and Mandoo Siddh, Laxman Siddh forms the sacred protective quartet of guardian deities believed to safeguard the valley. The tranquil forest grove, teeming with wild peacocks and chirping birds, provides an intensely spiritual environment for prayer and meditation.
A vibrant annual fair (Laxman Siddh Mela) is organized every April, drawing thousands of devotees who offer traditional jaggery and puffed rice prasad. The peaceful surrounding jungle trails are ideal for nature walks.
