Sree Vallabha Temple

Sree Vallabha Temple (celebrated in Vaishnavite tradition as Thiruvallavazh Divya Desam and the premier temple in the world where classical Kathakali is performed daily as a ritual offering), situated on the banks of the sacred Manimala River in Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, is one of the 108 sacred Divya Desams and South India's most ancient, spiritually revered Mahakshetrams.

Dating back to the Vedic antiquity and eulogized by the Alvar saints Nammalvar and Thirumangai Alvar in the 8th century Naalayira Divya Prabandham, this 400 year-old architectural complex enshrines a grand 8 foot monolithic granite idol of Lord Sreevallabhan (Maha Vishnu / Kolapiran) holding the sacred Sudarshana Chakra, Shankha, Gada, and Lotus in meditative blessing posture.
