Gun Hill is the second highest mountain peak in Mussoorie, rising to an elevation of 2,024 meters (6,640 feet) above sea level. Perched directly above the central Mall Road in Uttarakhand, this historic volcanic peak delivers sweeping 360 degree panoramic vistas across the snow laden Garhwal Himalayas and the sprawling Doon Valley.
The peak carries a fascinating historical heritage from the pre independence British colonial era. A large bronze cannon was mounted atop this summit and fired precisely at midday (12:00 PM) every day so that town residents and military cantonment officers could accurately adjust and calibrate their pocket watches.
Today, visitors can ascend via the thrilling 400 meter aerial ropeway cable car (Udan Khatola) swinging dramatically from Jhula Ghar on Mall Road. The hilltop plateau features game stalls, telescopes for peak viewing, photo studios offering traditional Garhwali costumes, and souvenir tea shops.
Visitors can also hike up the steep 20 minute bridle path from Mall Road. Sunset viewing from the high ridge is spectacular as town lights begin twinkling across Dehradun valley below.
Visiting Hours: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily (Ropeway runs until sunset)

Gun Hill is situated directly above Mall Road, about 1 kilometer from Library Chowk in central Mussoorie.
