Clouds End

Cloud End is a historic 2,000 acre heritage forest estate situated at the geographical western boundary of Mussoorie. Built in 1838 by British officer Major Swetenham as one of the earliest colonial stone bungalows in Uttarakhand, this secluded mountain retreat is enveloped by virgin deodar and oak forests.

The estate marks the literal end of Mussoorie hill ridges where clouds frequently descend into dense woodland trails. The original 19th century heritage bungalow has been preserved as a boutique heritage resort, retaining antique teak furniture, vintage fireplace hearths, and historical hunting memorabilia.

Nature enthusiasts can hike along rustic forest tracks leading down toward the silver rapids of the Aglar River and the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary. The crisp mountain air, undisturbed bird songs, and towering cedar trees offer an idyllic escape from tourist crowds.

The viewpoint behind the heritage bungalow delivers stunning sunsets over the Yamuna Valley. Forest walking trails connect smoothly to Jwala Devi Temple and Hathipaon.
