Camel Back Road is a scenic 3 kilometer walking promenade that curves along the northern mountain ridge of Mussoorie. Starting from Kulri Bazaar and terminating near Library Chowk in Uttarakhand, this tranquil pedestrian trail is named after a natural rocky outcrop that bears an uncanny resemblance to a sitting camel with its hump.
Flanked by fragrant Himalayan deodars, pines, and oak trees, the road offers striking views of the snow capped Greater Himalayan range, including Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Bandarpoonch peaks. A high powered public viewing telescope is mounted midway to offer close up views of the camel rock and distant peaks.
The promenade is also home to the historic 180 year old British era Mussoorie Cemetery and a tranquil 100 year old Sai Baba Temple. Away from honking traffic, it remains a favorite haunt for morning fitness joggers, leisurely walkers, and horse riders.
Visitors can hire horses from Kulri Bazaar stand or rent battery rickshaws for elderly travelers. The road provides one of Mussoorie finest sunset and sunrise vistas.
Visiting Hours: Open 24 hours daily (Best enjoyed 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM)
Entry Fee: Free public access (Horse ride: Rs 300 to Rs 500)
