Situated at the sacred confluence of the Bal Ganga and Dharam Ganga rivers at an elevation of 1,524 meters in Tehri Garhwal district, Budhakedar Temple (Budha Kedar Dham) is one of the most venerable Shiva pilgrimage destinations in Uttarakhand. Located approximately 59 kilometers from New Tehri on the road toward Budhakedar, this tranquil Himalayan valley shrine holds deep mythical significance as the place where the Pandavas met Sage Agastya during their quest for Lord Shiva.
The sanctum sanctorum houses a remarkably large natural stone Shiva Lingam. In Hindu tradition, it is considered the fifth major pilgrimage center (Pancham Dham) alongside the Chardham circuit. Carved stone idols of the five Pandava brothers, Draupadi, and Lord Vishnu adorn the ancient stone assembly hall.
Surrounded by terraced paddy fields, walnut trees, and forested mountain ridges, the temple is the base for scenic high altitude treks connecting toward Sahastratal, Masartal, and the Khatling Glacier.
