Science and Technology Museum

Science and Technology Museum (celebrated as Kerala Science and Technology Museum & Priyadarsini Planetarium), situated in PMG Junction near Museum Road in the state capital of Trivandrum in Kerala, is one of South India's premier autonomous science communication and educational discovery centers.

Established in 1984 by the Government of Kerala to cultivate scientific temper and popularize science among students and the general public, this sprawling campus houses over 300 dynamic interactive exhibits across mechanical engineering, electronics, robotics, solar energy, biomedical science, and mathematics.

It's the home of the world class Priyadarsini Planetarium equipped with a high definition hybrid digital projection dome, an advanced optical night sky observatory featuring powerful telescopes for stargazing, an exhilarating 3D science cinema hall, animated energy ball models, a dynamic science park with open air acoustic exhibits, and engaging daily laser light shows.

Interactive Science Galleries & Engineering Exhibits

The museum is divided into multiple thematic indoor galleries covering electricity and magnetism, electronics, automobile engineering, computer science, and power mechanics.

Unlike traditional museums with static display cases, visitors are encouraged to press buttons, turn cranks, pull levers, and physically operate exhibits to witness physical principles in real time.

Truth is, curious children and students spend hours experimenting with optical illusions, anti gravity mirrors, giant periscopes, and whispering acoustic dishes scattered across the indoor and outdoor science parks.

The Priyadarsini Planetarium & Night Sky Observatory

Priyadarsini Planetarium Dome: Featuring a 15 meter hemispherical dome and modern digital opto mechanical star projectors, the planetarium takes audiences on immersive cosmic voyages through galaxies, black holes, and the solar system.

Night Sky Stargazing: On scheduled evenings (especially Thursdays and Fridays), the rooftop observatory opens its large astronomical telescopes to the public for viewing lunar craters, Saturn's rings, and Jupiter's moons.

3D Science Theatre & Outdoor Children's Science Park

3D Cinema Shows: The museum hosts daily high definition 3D educational films that bring prehistoric dinosaurs, deep sea marine ecosystems, and outer space missions vividly to life.
