Catholic Rosary Church

Catholic Rosary Church (celebrated as Holy Rosary Church and the historic 16th century Sea Facing Portuguese French Cathedral), situated right along the rocky oceanfront shoreline behind Thalassery Fort in Thalassery in Kerala, is one of North Malabar's oldest, most historically romantic, and spiritually revered Catholic pilgrimage landmarks.

Following Vasco da Gama's arrival on the Malabar coast, Portuguese missionaries established this seaside sanctuary to minister to European maritime merchants, sailors, and local converts.

During the 18th century, French administrators from the neighboring settlement of Mahe contributed exquisite altar decorations, European bells, and gilded timber pulpits to the church.
