Jai Danda Nagraja Temple is a revered pilgrimage shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna worshipped in the divine form of the Serpent King (Nagraja), built on a scenic mountain ridge near Lasmoli village in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Perched at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters (5,905 feet), this sacred sanctuary is popularly revered across Uttarakhand as the 'Small Badrinath' (Chota Badrinath) of the Pauri hills.
According to local folklore, Lord Krishna manifested here in the form of a crawling serpent crawling over the ridge (danda meaning hilltop). The temple is famous for its unique traditional offering of fresh jaggery (gur) and jaggery bread (roti) prepared on site, with an eternal sacred flame (Akhand Jyoti) that has burned continuously for centuries. The peaceful temple courtyard, framed by whispering oak and rhododendron woods, offers panoramic views of the Chaukhamba snow peaks and rolling hills.
Truth is, receiving warm jaggery prasad while listening to temple bells chime against the backdrop of snow covered Garhwal peaks brings deep spiritual satisfaction. It remains one of the most powerful centers of faith in Uttarakhand.
