The Archaeological Museum in Jageshwar, established and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), is a treasure house of ancient stone sculptures, architectural fragments, and religious icons recovered from the Jageshwar and Dandeshwar temple clusters. Dating from the ninth to the thirteenth centuries AD, the exhibits reflect masterful Katyuri and early Chand stone craftsmanship.

The centerpiece of the museum is the celebrated life size stone sculpture of 'Pona Raja' (a local regional monarch) and intricately carved dancing Ganesha and Uma Maheshwara panels. Travelers exploring Uttarakhand gain deep insights into early Himalayan art, iconography, and temple building techniques.
Truth is, visiting the museum before entering the temples gives you a rich historical context. The museum is open Saturday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed Fridays) with an entry fee of ?5 for Indians and ?100 for foreign visitors.
The best months to visit the Archaeological Museum in Jageshwar are from April to June and September to November when mountain weather is pleasant.
