Bhimtal Island Aquarium

Bhimtal Island Aquarium is a distinctive tourist attraction situated right in the center of Bhimtal Lake. Built on a scenic natural island surrounded by shimmering waters, it is accessible exclusively via motor boat and rowing boat rides.

Originally housing a small restaurant, the island was transformed into a modern public aquarium by the local development authority. Today it showcases dozens of well maintained glass tanks featuring diverse freshwater and marine fish species brought from various parts of the world.

Exotic Marine Life and Island Promenade

Inside the aquarium galleries, visitors can observe colorful species including red piranhas, angelfish, flowerhorn cichlids, alligator gars, and indigenous Himalayan carp swimming in temperature regulated aquatic environments.

After touring the fish exhibits, travelers can relax along the landscaped paved pathways that skirt the island perimeter. A small open air cafeteria serves tea, coffee, and quick snacks overlooking panoramic views of green pine covered hills reflecting on the lake.
