1658 AD Shivaji Maharaj Conquest & Rajput Valor

During Shivaji Maharaj's historic assault in 1658, Mughal commander Kesar Singh fought valiantly to his death; Shivaji honored his courage and arranged royal escort for his family.

Later in 1818, the fort was captured by British troops under Colonel Prother after intense artillery bombardment from the adjacent ridges.
