Brahma Kund

The 1612 CE Basalt Stepwell & Sacred Spring Legend

Built in 1612, the kund features a multi tiered stone masonry construction divided into an upper receiving tank and a larger rectangular reservoir with descending stone steps on all four sides.

According to local tradition, Lord Brahma created the water spring here to bathe Lord Krishna, and dipping into these natural mineral rich spring waters is believed to cleanse impurities and restore vitality.

Truth is, sitting on the cool stone steps of the kund during early morning while mist rises from the calm water pool will transport you back four hundred years into Maharashtra's past.
