Pahalgam Golf Club is a world renowned 18 hole championship golf course built on a high plateau at an elevation of 2,400 meters (7,874 feet) overlooking Pahalgam in Anantnag district. Enclosed by towering ridges of dense pine and deodar forests, this high altitude golf course offers striking 360 degree panoramas of snow clad Himalayan summits and the roaring Lidder River valley below.
The rolling green fairways, pine mountain ridges, and scenic clubhouse of Pahalgam Golf Club in Kashmir.
Originally laid out as a 9 hole golf facility during the British colonial era in the early 20th century, the course was redesigned and expanded into a full international standard 18 hole par 71 layout by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation. The course features undulating natural hill fairways, bent grass greens, natural water hazards, and deep sand bunkers that challenge seasoned golfers while offering casual players an exhilarating mountain sporting experience.
Even non golfers love visiting the club for leisurely walks across the manicured perimeter lawns, photography, and enjoying hot Kashmiri saffron kahwa at the timber clubhouse restaurant. An ancient historic Hindu deer temple stands near the course perimeter, adding cultural charm to the natural setting. Spending a relaxed morning here is a quintessential leisure highlight when vacationing across Pahalgam, offering crisp mountain air and wide open green vistas.
Pahalgam Golf Club welcomes domestic and international tourists from April to November. Green fees range between 1,200 and 1,800 rupees for 18 holes, with golf set rentals, motorized carts, and experienced local caddies available for hire at reasonable rates. The club hosts major state and national golf tournaments, including the annual Pahalgam Golf Cup.
The golf course operates daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The clubhouse features changing rooms, a pro shop, a lounge bar, and an open deck restaurant serving authentic Kashmiri Wazwan and continental dishes. Visitors can access the golf plateau via a short 10 minute drive or a pleasant 20 minute uphill walk from Pahalgam main market.
