Gorson Bugyal (Gurso Bugyal) is a vast and scenic high altitude alpine pasture situated at an elevation of 3,056 meters (10,026 feet) above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Perched just 3 km uphill from the upper ski slopes of Auli (Tower 10 of the ropeway), this grand rolling grassland is enclosed by ancient oak, pine, and conifer woodlands with dramatic open views of the Greater Himalayan skyline.
During the spring and summer months, the expansive bugyal is blanketed in emerald green velvet grass dotted with blooming wildflowers, while local shepherds graze their herds against the snowy backdrop of Mount Nanda Devi (India's second highest peak), Mount Trishul, and Mount Dronagiri. In winter, the entire pasture transforms into a deep snow wonderland ideal for snowshoeing and winter trekking. Travelers visiting Auli(Uk) enjoy the easy 3 km scenic ridge walk from Auli, picnic under clear azure skies, and continue onward to the hidden forest pond of Chattrakund (1 km) and the higher alpine wilderness of Kwani Bugyal.
Gurso Bugyal is reached via a scenic 3 km walking trek from upper Auli.
