Sardarshahar is a town in the Churu district of Rajasthan, India. It is also the district tehsil. It belongs to Bikaner Division. It is located 55 KM towards west from District head quarters Churu. It is a Tehsil head quarter. The town is named after Prince Sardar Singh, the king of Bikaner.The Terapanthi Swetamber Oswal Jain terapanthi merchant community predominates in Sardarshahar, which is situated in the Thar Desert. It has havelis adorned with fresco paintings and carved woodwork. It also has a small fort that now houses government offices. It is the birthplace of the Eleventh Acharya of Jain Swetambar Terapanth, Acharya Shri Mahashramanji. It also has the Acharya Mahapragya Samadhi Sthal.
