Handi Khoh (the 300 foot sheer horseshoe sandstone ravine and densely forested canyon, renowned in Shaivite mythology as the cavern created when Lord Shiva vanquished a giant serpent demon) along Dhoopgarh Road in Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, stands as Satpura's supreme canyon abyss and geological wonder landmark.

The 300 Foot Canyon Drop & Lord Shiva Legend

According to regional lore, this massive canyon was once a large mountain lake inhabited by a giant serpent that terrified local tribal inhabitants.

Lord Shiva hurled his cosmic trident (Trishul) at the serpent, splitting the sandstone rock wide open, drying the lake waters, and leaving this deep horseshoe cauldron behind as eternal proof of divine intervention.

Truth is, peering over the edge from the secure observation gallery into the 300 foot forested void while listening to the distant roar of subterranean water will give you goosebumps.
