The 1857 Siege & Rani Lakshmibai Jumping Point

Constructed originally by Orchha's ruler Bir Singh Deo, the fort passed to the Maratha Newalkar dynasty and became the epicenter of the 1857 rebellion under Rani Lakshmibai's fearless leadership.

Visitors can stand at the exact stone parapet (Kudan Sthal) where the Queen, with her adopted child Damodar Rao tied to her back, mounted her royal stallion Badal and made the daring leap over the high wall to continue her fight in Gwalior.
