Ujjain Tour Package

Ujjain is one of the seven sacred cities of India – the 'Sapta Puri'. According to Hindu mythology, this city marks one of the four sites where the drops of nectar were accidentally dropped by Lord Garuda in his attempt to run away from the demons after the Samudra Manthan. In order to congregate this religiously significant event, a Kumbh Mela is celebrated here after every 12 years, which attracts millions of Hindu pilgrims from across the country. Further references to this city in the Atharva Veda and Skanda Purana reveal that it has been the hub of religious and spiritual activities for more than 2000 years. Besides, Ujjain also holds immense historical significance as it has been ruled by legendary dynasties like the Mauryas and Guptas. It is also renowned as the ancient seat of learning that has witnessed great scholars like Bhaskaracharya and Brahmagupta. Presently, the place is most revered for the grand Mahakaleshwar Temple that enshrines one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in the country.
