Munsiyari is located in the Pithoragarh District. Offering splendors of natureas beauty in their most captivating form, this place is famous for its some highly adventurous and nerve wrecking trekking trails. Perched between the borders of India, Tibet and Nepal, Munsiyari is a base for three glaciers namely Namik, Milam and Ralam Glaciers. Located at a height of 2298 m above the sea level, this quaint little village is often seen romancing with brilliant weather throughout the year and the stunning backdrop of Panchachuli among the other treasured peaks and mountains.

Day 1:   Kathgodam - Munsiyari

Pick-up from Kathgodam Railway Station, drive to Munsiyari. check in at hotel & relax, evening free for individual activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02:  Munsiyari Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, you get ready to leave for sightseeing in Munsiyari. The vicinity is a blessing for nature-lovers. Some of the major attractions of Munsiyari are, Thamari Kund, Nanda Devi Temple, Betuli Dhar and Birthi fall. This sightseeing session will help you heal your exhaustions, thanks to the refreshing breeze and magnificent panorama. By late evening, you get back to the room and stay overnight.

Day 03:   Munsiyari - Kathgodam

After early breakfast, drive back to Kathgodam. On arrive Kathgodam, transfer to Railway Station.

By Air:

• Pantnagar Airport (Airport Code: PGH - 310 km southwest): Connected by regular domestic flights from New Delhi and Dehradun. Hill taxis are available to reach Munsiyari via Almora and Bageshwar in 10 to 11 hours.
• Naini Saini Airport (Pithoragarh - 128 km south): Regional airstrip with scheduled domestic flights from Dehradun and Pantnagar. Taxis reach Munsiyari in 4.5 hours via Thal.

By Train:

Munsiyari is served by major railway railheads in Kumaon:

• Kathgodam Railway Station (Station Code: KGM - 275 km): Major railhead connected by express trains from Delhi (Ranikhet Express, Shatabdi Express), Kolkata (Bagh Express), Lucknow, and Kanpur.
• Tanakpur Railway Station (Station Code: TPU - 285 km): Rail terminus connecting Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Terai region.

By Road:

• From Delhi (~580 km / 14 to 16 hours): Via Moradabad, Rampur, Haldwani, Kathgodam, Bhowali, Almora, Bageshwar, Chaukori, Thal, Birthi, Kalamuni Top, and Munsiyari.
• From Kathgodam / Nainital (~275 km / 9 to 10 hours): Via Almora, Bageshwar, Thal, and Birthi.
• From Pithoragarh (~128 km / 4.5 to 5 hours): Via Ogla, Thal, and Birthi Falls.
• From Kausani (~160 km / 5.5 to 6.5 hours): Via Bageshwar, Chaukori, and Thal.
• Regular UTC and KMOU state buses and shared Maxx jeeps depart daily from Kathgodam, Haldwani, and Almora.

Shared Maxx jeeps, private taxis, and local walking trails connect Munsiyari with Darkot village, Balati bend (Khaliya Top base), and Birthi Falls.

2. Birthi Falls & 125-Meter Cascading Glacial Mountain Waterfall (35 km)

A colossal 125 meter (410 foot) natural waterfall located 35 km before Munsiyari on the Thal road. Cascading off sheer granite cliff faces framed by dense rhododendron and oak woodlands, Birthi Falls features well paved walking steps and a scenic viewing gazebo.

3. Khaliya Top (3,500 m) & High-Altitude Alpine Meadow Trek

A panoramic alpine meadow (*bugyal*) situated at an altitude of 3,500 meters (11,500 feet), reached via a scenic 6 km trek starting from Balati bend. The summit offers 360 degree views of the Greater Himalayas including Panchachuli, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Hardeol, and Trishul.

4. Tribal Heritage Museum & Shauka Bhotiya Indo-Tibetan Trade Archives

Founded by renowned local historian Master Sher Singh Pangthey in his private ancestral residence, this museum showcases the rich heritage of the indigenous Shauka Bhotiya community. Exhibits include vintage salt trade records, ancient maps, brass kitchenware, traditional silver jewelry, fossils, and Himalayan yak leather clothing.

5. Nanda Devi Temple & Gori Ganga Valley Viewpoint (3 km)

An ancient white washed shrine situated atop a scenic knoll (3 km from the town center), dedicated to Goddess Nanda. The open grassy temple courtyard commands sweeping views of the Gori Ganga river valley and the towering Panchachuli massif.

6. Darkot Tribal Village & Traditional Handwoven Pashmina / Angora Looms (6 km)

A picturesque traditional stone village located 6 km from Munsiyari, renowned for authentic Shauka handloom weaving. Visitors can watch local artisans spin pure Pashmina, sheep wool, and Angora rabbit yarn on pit looms to create handwoven shawls and carpets.

7. Kalamuni Top (2,750 m) & Kali Temple High Mountain Pass (14 km)

A high mountain ridge pass (altitude: 2,750 m) situated 14 km before Munsiyari, crowned by an ancient Kali temple. The pass offers the first full view of the Panchachuli range amidst dense pine and rhododendron woods.

8. Thamri Kund & Maheshwari Kund Alpine Forest Lakes (4 km)

Serene natural forest lakes hidden inside dense alpine groves of paper birch (*bhojpatra*) and pine trees, sacred in local folklore for rain blessings.
