Abbott Mount

built on a tranquil oak and pine crested ridge at an altitude of 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) in Champawat district, Abbott Mount is an idyllic heritage hill station located roughly 8 kilometers from Lohaghat in Uttarakhand. Founded in 1914 by British businessman John Harold Abbott, who sought to create a secluded European style mountain retreat, the settlement spans across 245 acres of untouched woodlands.

The ridge features thirteen colonial stone cottages with sprawling wooden verandahs and sloping tin roofs, secluded amidst cedar, walnut, and pine trees. Anchoring the woodland clearing is the historic St. John's Church, consecrated in 1942, alongside a scenic heritage cricket ground tucked directly on the mountain saddle.

Travelers and birdwatchers revel in sweeping panoramic vistas of the snow covered Central Himalayas, stretching from the peaks of Trishul and Nanda Devi to the Panchachuli range in eastern Kumaon. Peaceful forest walking trails connect the hill to the Mahakali river valley below.
