Vasuki Tal is an alpine glacial lake perched at a dizzying elevation of 4,135 meters (14,200 feet) above sea level in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by the towering Chaukhamba peaks and rugged Himalayan moraines, this high altitude sacred tarn is known for its deep crystal blue waters and the rare Brahma Kamal flowers that bloom along its rocky shores during monsoon.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu bathed in this calm glacial lake during the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan, which is why it bears deep spiritual reverence. The demanding 8 km trek from Kedarnath traverses steep continuous ascents, crossing glacial boulders and the Vasuki glacier moraine, rewarding seasoned trekkers with sweeping vistas of Mount Chaukhamba and the Mandakini valley.
Vasuki Tal is reached via a challenging mountain trek starting from the Kedarnath temple base.
The best time to undertake the Vasuki Tal trek is from May to June and September to October when trails are clear of deep snow.
