Gurudwara Reetha Sahib (Meetha Reetha Sahib) is a sacred Sikh pilgrimage shrine constructed at the confluence of the Ladhia and Ratiya rivers roughly 72 km from Champawat. Established in 1960 to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana during their third Udasi travel in the early sixteenth century, the shrine holds immense historical and spiritual prominence.
According to popular Janamsakhi tradition, when Bhai Mardana felt hungry, Guru Nanak asked him to eat soapnuts (reetha) from a nearby tree; through divine grace, the naturally bitter nuts turned sweet (meetha). Devotees touring Uttarakhand receive these miraculous sweet reethas as sacred Prasad.
