Shri Bageshwar Mahadev Mandir

Shri Bageshwar Mahadev Mandir is an ancient stone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated in the tranquil pine clad outskirts of Chamba town in Uttarakhand. Perched at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters (5,250 feet), this spiritual sanctuary works as a major center of faith for local Garhwali villagers and pilgrims journeying between Rishikesh, Mussoorie, and New Tehri.

Built with traditional Garhwali stone masonry and ornate timber eaves, the temple houses a sacred self manifested (Swayambhu) Shivling continuously offered fresh spring water, bael leaves, and milk. The peaceful courtyard is shaded by towering deodar trees and surrounded by rolling apple and apricot orchards, providing soothing vistas across the Bhagirathi valley. During Mahashivratri and Shravan somvar, the temple fills with devotional chants and brass bell resonances.

Truth is, meditating inside the cool stone sanctum while gentle Himalayan pine breezes drift through the open doorways brings absolute serenity. It offers a wonderfully peaceful spiritual stopover in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal hills.
