About Pindari Glacier

Pindari Glacier is one of the most accessible and celebrated Himalayan glaciers in northern India, situated at an altitude of roughly 3,660 meters between Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot peaks in the upper reaches of Bageshwar district. Measuring over 3.2 km long and giving birth to the roaring Pindar River, this majestic ice river offers one of the most rewarding trekking expeditions in Kumaon.

Pindari Glacier in Bageshwar, Uttarakhand

The classic 90 km round trip trek begins from the mountain hamlet of Kharkiya or Loharkhet, winding through dense rhododendron glades, alpine meadows, and scenic villages like Khati and Dwali before reaching Zero Point. Adventure enthusiasts touring Uttarakhand marvel at the dramatic ice falls and towering Himalayan amphitheater surrounding the glacier snout.

Truth is, standing at Zero Point with ice cliffs towering right before you is an unforgettable rush. Trekkers usually take 5 to 6 days to complete the circuit, staying at basic KMVN guest houses or village homestays.
