The Stone Chariot Vimana & The 'Uthana Sayana' Posture

The central sanctum is uniquely designed as a massive royal chariot carved in granite, complete with sculpted wheels, stone axles, and galloping horses on either side.

When 7th century poet saint Thirumazhisai Alvar sang 'Are your legs aching, Lord?', Lord Aravamudhan began to sit up from his reclining position, freezing forever in this half risen pose (Uthana Sayana) to honor the saint's love.

Truth is, viewing the Lord's gentle half risen smile during morning Viswaroopa darshan is deeply enchanting.

Compilation of the 4,000 Divya Prabandham Hymns

Nathamuni's Quest: Scholar Nathamuni heard devotees sing eleven verses praising Lord Aravamudhan and embarked on a pilgrimage to recover all 4,000 lost Tamil Alvar hymns.

Spiritual Heritage: Sarangapani Temple is thus celebrated as the spiritual fountainhead from which the entire canon of Nalayira Divya Prabandham was revived for future generations.
