Adithyapuram Surya Temple

Adithyapuram Surya Temple (revered as Adityapuram Sree Surya Narayana Temple), situated in the peaceful village of Iravimangalam near Kaduthuruthy just 22 km northeast of Kumarakom in Kerala, is one of India's rarest and most spiritually distinctive Vedic solar shrines.

Vatta Sreekovil & The Solar Illumination Wonder

The Circular Sanctum: The temple features a rare Vatta Sreekovil (circular inner sanctum) constructed from laterite stone, teakwood beams, and conical copper roofing tiles that channel natural ventilation and energy.

Vishu Solar Alignment: Facing directly westward, the sanctum is mathematically engineered so that on the evening of Vishu (Medam 1st in April), the golden rays of the setting sun pass unobstructed through the western doors to illuminate the chest and face of the idol.
