Standing 41 meters high as Kerala's second tallest lighthouse, the 1902 lighthouse tower features 195 spiral steps and an elevator leading to 360 degree views of the Arabian Sea and Ashtamudi Lake.

Adjacent laterite walls and arched gateways are all that remain of the Portuguese St. Thomas Fort, which was once besieged by Dutch cannons in the 17th century.
