Kud Park (often referred to as Swami Sachidanand Park) is a beautifully landscaped public garden located in the heart of Kud town, just eight kilometers before Patnitop in Udhampur district. Perched at an altitude of 1,738 meters in the lower Shivalik Himalayas, this manicured mountain garden features stepped floral terraces, flowering ornamental shrubs, and towering cedar trees overlooking the Chenab valley hills.
The colorful floral beds and scenic mountain walking paths of Kud Park, a favorite roadside retreat near Patnitop.
Maintained by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), the park is famous for its vibrant summer and autumn flower displays, including multicolored dahlias, marigolds, petunias, and alpine roses. Smooth stone pathways wind between lush grass lawns, water fountains, and shaded wooden gazebos where travelers relax under cool mountain breezes while enjoying unobstructed views of distant pine covered ridges.
Because of its prime location directly along the Jammu Srinagar national highway corridor, Kud Park works as a favored picnic and rest stop for families, road trippers, and pilgrims heading toward Vaishno Devi and the Kashmir valley. It forms a key relaxation spot during any sightseeing holiday across Patnitop, located within easy walking distance of Kud's historic sweet bazaar.
A major highlight of visiting Kud Park is sampling the legendary Kud Patisa from sweet stalls located right outside the garden gates. Prepared using traditional brass kadhais with roasted besan (gram flour), sugar syrup, and generous lashings of pure desi ghee, this flaky, melt in your mouth dessert is bought in large gift boxes by tourists traveling across the state.
Kud Park remains open to visitors daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A nominal entry fee of 20 rupees for adults and 10 rupees for children is charged at the ticket counter. The park includes a dedicated children's play corner with swings and slides, clean public restrooms, and convenient vehicle parking along the highway entrance.
