Day 02:- Srinagar - Sonmarg - Srinagar
Meals - breakfast & dinner

Transfer to Sonmarg at an alt. of 2,550 meters (84 Km / 02:30 hrs) full day excursion, Sonmarg is known as "Meadow of Gold" leisure activities visit Thajvaas Glacier by the pony ride enjoy brisk pine forest scenery overnight stay at Srinagar HBoat.
 



Day 03:- Srinagar - Pahalgam

Day 04:-Pahalgam - Gulmarg

Day 05:-Gulmarg - Srinagar

How to reach Gulmarg

By Air:

The closest domestic and international airport is Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar (Airport Code: SXR - 56 km / 1.5 hours drive via 4-lane Srinagar-Baramulla highway and Narbal-Tangmarg road). Srinagar Airport operates daily direct flights connecting New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Jammu. Taxis and private cabs operate directly from Srinagar Airport to Tangmarg and Gulmarg. (During winter snowfall from December to March, 4x4 vehicles with tire snow chains operate between Tangmarg and Gulmarg).

By Train:

Major Broad Gauge Railhead: Jammu Tawi Railway Station (Station Code: JAT - 300 km / 7 hours drive) and Katra (SVDK) are the primary broad gauge stations, connected to all Indian metros by Vande Bharat Express, Rajdhani Express, and premier superfast trains:

  • Kashmir Valley Rail Network: **Mazhom Railway Station (Station Code: MZMA - 32 km from Gulmarg)** on the broad gauge valley line provides quick train connections to Srinagar, Anantnag, and Banihal.
  • Taxis and shared cabs operate continuously between Srinagar, Tangmarg, and Gulmarg.

By Road:

Gulmarg connects via the well paved Narbal-Tangmarg Road / State Highway SH-1:

  • From Srinagar (~50 km / 1.5 hours): Smooth 4-lane highway drive through apple orchards to Tangmarg, followed by a 12 km scenic mountain ascent through pine forests to Gulmarg bowl.
  • From Pahalgam (~140 km / 3.5 hours): Scenic valley drive via Srinagar bypass.
  • From Sonamarg (~125 km / 3 hours): Scenic mountain drive via Kangan and Narbal.
  • From Jammu (~300 km / 7 hours): 4-lane highway drive via NH-44 through Banihal tunnel.
  • State Buses: JKSRTC operates daily deluxe and semi deluxe tourist buses to Gulmarg from Srinagar Tourist Reception Centre (TRC).

Gulmarg offers an extraordinary collection of world famous passenger cable cars, alpine ski summits, glacial lakes, and Victorian heritage monuments:

1. Gulmarg Gondola & Phase 1 Kungdoor to Phase 2 Apharwat Peak (3,979m)

The Gulmarg Gondola is the world's highest and longest operating passenger cable car system, designed in collaboration with French firm POMA. Phase 1 ferries passengers from Gulmarg resort bowl (2,650m) to the bowl of *Kungdoor (3,050m)* in 10 minutes through dense pine forests. Phase 2 ascends steeply from Kungdoor to the upper shoulder of *Apharwat Peak (3,979m / 13,054 feet)* in 12 minutes, offering spectacular views of the snow covered Pir Panjal and Karakoram ranges.

2. Apharwat Peak & International Skiing Snow Slopes (13,054 ft)

Rising to 3,979 meters above sea level, Apharwat Peak receives abundant dry champagne powder snow, making it one of Asia's premier skiing, snowboarding, and heli-skiing destinations from December to March. The summit features challenging backcountry powder bowls for advanced skiers alongside gentle groomed slopes at Kungdoor for beginners, with ski rentals, certified instructors, and snowmobiles available.

3. Alpather Frozen Lake & Glacial Mountain Cirque (3,843m)

Situated at the foot of the twin Apharwat peaks 13 km from Gulmarg (or a scenic 1.5-hour trek from Gondola Phase 2 station), Alpather Lake is a high altitude alpine lake that remains completely frozen with floating ice sheets from November until mid June. In summer, the lake sparkles with deep turquoise waters surrounded by rocky moraines and alpine wildflowers.

4. St. Mary's Church & Century-Old Victorian Alpine Stone Architecture (1902)

Built in 1902 during the British colonial era, St. Mary's Church is a Victorian alpine stone church nestled in the meadows surrounded by towering deodars. Built in grey ashlar stone with stained glass windows and green wooden gabled roofs, the church looks magical in winter when heavy snow blankets its steep bell tower.

5. Drung Frozen Waterfall & Glacial Cascades (Tangmarg Gorge)

Located in a narrow mountain gorge 16 km before Gulmarg near Tangmarg, Drung Waterfall is a mountain waterfall that freezes completely in winter (December to February) into towering icy stalactites and frozen blue pillars, fed by mountain streams flowing through pine forested valleys.

6. Maharani Temple (Rani Temple / Mohineshwar Shivalaya - 1915)

Built in 1915 by Maharani Mohini Bai Sisodia, wife of Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir, this vibrant red roofed Lord Shiva temple stands atop a central knoll in Gulmarg, visible from every corner of the meadow and offering 360-degree views.

7. Strawberry Valley & Emerald Alpine Meadow Walking Trails

A tranquil, secluded valley tucked behind the main resort, famous for its lush wild strawberry plantations, grazing mountain ponies, clear streams, and peaceful walking trails.

8. Gulmarg Golf Course (World's Highest 18-Hole Green Golf Course - 2,650m)

Laid out by Sir Neville Chamberlain in 1911 and redesigned into an 18-hole championship course, this is the highest green golf course in the world (2,650 meters), open for play from May to October.

9. Children's Park & Outer Gulmarg Circular Road Viewpoint

A scenic 11 km forested ring road encircling the entire meadow of Gulmarg, offering panoramic views of Nanga Parbat (8,126m), Harmukh peak, and the vast Kashmir Valley below.
