Panchpula, translating to Five Bridges, is a scenic nature valley where five mountain streams converge to form foaming waterfalls, located 3.5 km from Dalhousie. Surrounded by verdant pine and deodar forests in Himachal Pradesh, it is the most popular day picnic retreat in the region.
At the heart of Panchpula stands the samadhi monument dedicated to the legendary Indian revolutionary freedom fighter Sardar Ajit Singh (uncle of Bhagat Singh), who breathed his last here on the day of India's independence on 15th August 1947. Visitors pay respectful homage before the national tricolor pillar.
Truth is, adventure lovers enjoy crossing the iron bridges, riding thrilling overhead ziplines, and paddling in shallow water pools. Panchpula also is the base starting point for the scenic upward forest trek leading to Dainkund Peak and Diankund ridge.
