A well-planned city, Panchkula is also a satellite city of Chandigarh. Chandimandir Cantonment, the headquarters of the Indian Army's Western Command, is stationed in Panchkula city. The district of Panchkula enjoys thickest forest cover in the entire State of Haryana. Besides Panchkula city, the district has five towns, Pinjore, Kalka, Barwala, Morni and Ranipur Rani. Morni Hills, the only hill station in Haryana, also lies in this district, on the offshoots of Shivalik range of the Himalayas. The origin of the name Panchkula came from the place where five irrigation canals meet. Panch is five and Kuls means canal, hence the name Panchkula.Panchkula is just 10 kms. away from city beautiful Chandigarh & is an important part of the Tricity.

One of the most planned towns of Haryana, Panchkula is a satellite town that forms the tricity withChandigarh and Mohali. Ruled by the Chandels from 9th-12th Century, this hill-city derives its name from the five irrigation canals or 'kuls' which draw water from the uphill Ghagghar. Sector 5 in Panchkula is popular for its variety of entertainment and eating out options.
