Tehri Dam

Tehri Dam is the tallest dam in India and one of the highest earth and rockfill embankment dams in the world, towering at a colossal height of 260.5 meters (855 feet) across the Bhagirathi and Bhilangna rivers in New Tehri, Uttarakhand. Impounding a mammoth reservoir spanning 52 square kilometers (Tehri Lake), this colossal multipurpose engineering project generates 2,400 MW of hydroelectric power while supplying drinking water and irrigation across northern India.

Beyond its hydroelectric significance, Tehri Lake has emerged as northern India's premier adventure water sports destination. The vast turquoise blue reservoir offers jet skiing, speed boating, banana boat rides, wakeboarding, parasailing over water, kayaking, and luxurious overnight stays in eco friendly floating houseboats.
