Methodist Church

Methodist Church stands quietly among dense oak and pine woods on the hilltops of Mukteshwar. Constructed during the early twentieth century by British colonial settlers, it is one of the oldest surviving Christian sanctuaries in the Kumaon hills.

The structure showcases classic colonial church architecture with stone masonry, stained glass windows, and a steep gabled roof designed to shed heavy monsoon rains and winter snow. A small wrought iron bell still hangs proudly on its modest belfry tower.

Surrounded by tall deodar trees and chir pines, the church offers a peaceful retreat away from crowded tourist spots. Visitors can stroll along cobblestone paths leading through the church grounds, enjoying birdsong and crisp mountain breezes.

Inside, wooden pews, simple altar brassware, and century old memorial plaques preserve the modest aesthetic of the colonial hill station era. Sunday prayer services continue to bring local community members together throughout the year.
