Kodia Jungle

Kodia Jungle is a dense coniferous forest reserve and eco tourism sanctuary located just 1 kilometer from the quiet mountain hamlet of Kanatal on the Chamba to Mussoorie road in Uttarakhand. Perched at an altitude of approximately 2,590 meters (8,500 feet), this protected wilderness area is famed for its easy 5 to 6 kilometer level forest walking trail through towering deodar cedar, oak, and rhododendron trees.

The forest is home to diverse wildlife including barking deer (kakar), wild boars, goral (Himalayan mountain goats), and leopards, alongside rich birdlife such as Himalayan monals, kalij pheasants, and rufous sibias. Along the trail, travelers discover multiple natural mountain water springs and dramatic forest clearings that open out to panoramic vistas of the Tehri Dam reservoir and rolling Garhwal hills. Visitors can explore the trail on foot or hire an authorized forest department 4x4 open safari jeep.

Truth is, breathing in the crisp pine scented air while walking beneath colossal deodar canopies without noisy city crowds is restorative. It remains one of the finest gentle nature forest treks in Uttarakhand.
