About Dharamghar

Perched high on a ridge at an elevation of 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) in Pithoragarh district, Dharamghar (Dharamgarh) is a tranquil mountain viewpoint and Gandhian heritage hamlet located 9 kilometers from Chaukori in Uttarakhand. The peaceful settlement gained historical prominence as the residence of Sarla Behn (Catherine Heilemann), a close British disciple of Mahatma Gandhi who spent her later years here leading women empowerment and environmental movements across Kumaon.
