Chilmiri Neck

Chilmiri Neck is the highest plateau viewpoint in the cantonment hill station of Chakrata, perched at an elevation of 2,160 meters (7,086 feet) in Uttarakhand. Situated roughly 3 kilometers from the main town market, this expansive open meadow ridge is widely celebrated as the premier sunset and panoramic Himalayan vantage point in the Jaunsar region.

Encircled by dense deodar, pine, and oak woodlands, the grassy plateau offers sweeping 360 degree views across the Tons and Yamuna valleys, with snow peaks like Bandarpoonch, Srikanth, and the Swargarohini massif visible on clear days. The area is maintained in pristine condition under military cantonment supervision, making it a peaceful sanctuary for birdwatchers spotting blue whistling thrushes, migratory raptors, and yellow billed choughs.
