Measuring 85 meters in length and 11 meters in width, Atharnala is one of the oldest operational stone bridges in India, featuring 18 distinct water passages built with horizontal corbelling techniques.

The Divine Trance: When Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu arrived here on foot from Bengal in 1510 AD, seeing the top pinnacle (Neelachakra) of the Jagannath Temple from Atharnala overwhelmed him with ecstatic love for Lord Krishna.

Historic Pilgrim Toll Gate: During British and Maratha rule, Atharnala served as the official pilgrim checkpost where tax collectors registered arriving devotees before granting entry to the sacred city.
