1670 AD Seven Coffee Beans & Yemen Legend

In 1670 AD, Sufi saint Baba Budan smuggled seven raw coffee beans strapped to his chest while returning from pilgrimage in Mocha, Yemen, defying the strict Arab monopoly on coffee cultivation.

He planted those seven beans on the slopes of this mountain, giving birth to India's vast coffee industry that now spans across Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

Truth is, standing outside the ancient cave shrine while gazing at coffee plantations carpeting the mountain slopes brings deep gratitude for this historic milestone.
