Hassan attractions include the Hasanamba Temple, after which the city was named, the Shetihalli Church, a church in ruins which is submerged by the backwaters of a river, and Mosale village which is home to two temples with elegant Hoysala architecture. The Gorur Dam, on the Hemavathy River, is another Hassan sightseeing option, while the Bisle Ghat, 90 km from Hassan, offers spectacular views from the hilltop and is a nature lover's dream destination. Hassan is also close to the historical towns of Belur and Halebid, which have breathtaking architectural sculptures in the Shennakeshava and Hoysaleswara temples, built by the Hoysala dynasty. Shravanabelagola, an important Jain centre, has the Bahubali statue, which is a 1000 years old and the tallest monolithic statue.
