Gita Mandir

Gita Mandir (the sacred white marble sanctuary, revered shrine of the 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita, and spiritual landmark of Triveni Sangam) in Somnath in Gujarat, is one of Saurashtra's most deeply venerated Hindu pilgrimage sites.

The Eighteen Marble Gita Pillars, Acoustic Resonance & Balram Gufa

Each of the eighteen marble columns corresponds to a chapter of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, carrying deeply etched Sanskrit shlokas alongside Gujarati and Hindi commentaries.

The architectural acoustics of the main prayer dome are intentionally crafted so that chanting 'Om' or Krishna bhajans produces resonant, sustained echoes throughout the sanctum.

Steps away from the main prayer hall rests Balram Gufa (Balarama Cave), marking the underground cavern where Lord Krishna's elder brother Lord Balarama is believed to have departed to his heavenly abode in his serpent form (Sheshnaag).
