Piran Kaliyar Sharif is a revered 13th century Sufi dargah shrine dedicated to Hazrat Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Kalyari, situated in Kaliyar village on the southern banks of the Upper Ganga Canal, roughly 7 kilometers from Roorkee in Uttarakhand. Rebuilt in 1522 by Ibrahim Lodi, this celebrated pilgrimage site is a symbol of communal harmony, drawing hundreds of thousands of Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh devotees seeking spiritual healing and fulfillment of wishes.

Hazrat Sabir Pak, a direct maternal nephew and spiritual successor of the revered Sufi mystic Baba Farid Ganjshakar of the Chishti Sabiri order, lived an austere life of profound meditation and spiritual ecstasy here. Devotees tie red sacred threads across marble jaali screens, offer velvet green chaadars, and light incense sticks around the inner mazar. Soul stirring evening Qawwali sessions fill the open courtyard with mystical devotional fervor.
Truth is, listening to evocative Sufi kalam sung under the illuminated Mughal dome while rosewater scents drift through the evening air is deeply moving. It remains one of the most spiritually powerful Sufi sanctuaries in northern Uttarakhand.
Piran Kaliyar Sharif receives pilgrims throughout the year, with the best visiting months spanning October to March and during the annual Urs festival.

Hazrat Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Kalyari (1196, 1291 AD) was a 13th century Sufi saint of the Chishti order, renowned for his intense devotion and spiritual miracles.
While the shrine was originally established in the 13th century, the current stone and marble structure was constructed in 1522 AD by Sultan Ibrahim Lodi.
The annual Urs is held in the Islamic month of Rabi ul Awwal, commemorating the death anniversary of Sabir Pak with grand chaadar processions, Langar, and all night Qawwali mehfils.
Devotees typically offer fragrant rose flower petals, embroidered velvet chaadars, batasha sweets, and tie sacred wish threads (mannat ka dhaaga) to marble screens.
Piran Kaliyar is located about 7 km northeast of Roorkee town and approximately 22 km southwest of Haridwar city.
