Joshimath is a quaint hill town nestled amid the lap of snow-capped Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand. This valley is mesmerizingly beautiful surrounded on all sides by picturesque views. Perched at an altitude of 6000 ft, this enchanting town also exhibits the spiritual vibes that can be felt at several ancient temples. Joshimath serves as a significant religious center for Hindu pilgrims and lies in the close proximity to one of the four 'maths' founded by Adi Guru Shri Shankaracharya in 8th century namely Badrinath. This 'math' dedicated to the holy text of Hindus called Atharva Veda.

Day 1:   Dehradun - Joshimath

Pick-up from Dehradun Railway Station as per your flights time or Airport, drive to Joshimath. check in at hotel & relax, evening free for individual activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02:  Joshimath Local Sightseeing

Have your breakfast at the hotel. visit to Joshimath Local Sightseens, Narsingh Temple is Lord Narsingh, Kalpavriksha, Vishnuprayag, Auli is the most popular skiing spot of Uttarakhand, evening free for individual activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03:   Joshimath - Dehradun

After early breakfast, drive back to Dehradun. On arrive Dehradun, transfer to Railway Station or Airport.

By Air:

Jolly Grant Airport (Airport Code: DED - Dehradun - 265 km southwest) operates daily direct flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. Taxis and private hill cabs are available at the airport arrivals to reach Joshimath in 7.5 to 8.5 hours via Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Chamoli along the 4-lane NH-07 Char Dham highway.

By Train:

Joshimath is served by two major railway junctions in Uttarakhand:

• Rishikesh / Yog Nagari Rishikesh (Station Code: YNRK / RKSH - 250 km): Principal railhead connected by express trains from Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
• Haridwar Junction (Station Code: HW - 275 km): Major national railhead with regular Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat trains.
• The upcoming *Rishikesh Karanprayag Railway Line* will reduce rail travel to Karnaprayag (82 km from Joshimath).

By Road:

• From Delhi (~490 km / 11.5 to 13 hours): Via Delhi Meerut Expressway, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, and Pipalkoti (NH-07).
• From Rishikesh (~250 km / 7.5 hours): Smooth 4-lane Char Dham Highway (NH-07).
• From Badrinath (~45 km / 1.5 hours): Direct NH-07 highway.
• From Auli (~13 km / 30 minutes): Paved hill road or via the 4 km aerial cable car ropeway.
• Regular UTC and GMOU state transport buses depart round the clock from Rishikesh ISBT and Haridwar.

Local Transport:

Shared mountain jeeps, local taxis, and the aerial ropeway connect Joshimath town with Auli, Govindghat, Badrinath, and Tapovan.

Joshimath features an extraordinary collection of ancient Vedic monasteries, winter pilgrimage shrines, sacred trees, and cable car ropeways:

1. Narsingh Temple & Sacred Winter Seat of Lord Badrinath (Narsingh Badri)

An ancient stone sanctuary dedicated to Lord Narasimha (the half lion, half man incarnation of Lord Vishnu), forming a vital pillar of the *Sapt Badri* pilgrimage. When Badrinath Temple closes for winter (November to May), the sacred deity of Lord Badri Vishal resides here for daily worship. According to prophecy, the left arm of the Narasimha idol is thinning, which legends say will eventually herald the emergence of Bhavishya Badri.

2. Jyotirmath (Shankaracharya Math) & Ancient Meditation Cave of Adi Shankara

The Northern Amnaya Peeth founded by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, custodian of the Atharva Veda. The serene monastery complex houses sacred Vedic texts, the temple of Goddess Rajarajeshwari, and the natural rock meditation cave (*Shankaracharya Gufa*) where Adi Shankara wrote his celebrated commentaries on the Upanishads and Brahma Sutras.

3. Kalpavriksha & 2,500-Year-Old Sacred Mulberry Tree (Jyoteshwar Mahadev)

An ancient mulberry tree (*Morus serrata*) with a colossal trunk perimeter of over 21 meters, believed to be over 2,500 years old. Revered as an immortal wish fulfilling tree (*Kalpavriksha*), Adi Shankaracharya sat in deep meditation under its sprawling branches. Directly underneath stands the ancient *Jyoteshwar Mahadev Temple* dedicated to Lord Shiva.

4. Joshimath Valley Overlook & Dhauliganga-Alaknanda River Gorges

The upper viewpoints of Joshimath offer breathtaking panoramas of the deep river gorges, the convergence of the Dhauliganga and Alaknanda valleys, and snow peaks including Hathi Parbat (6,727 m) and Ghori Parbat (6,708 m).

5. Joshimath to Auli Aerial Ropeway Terminal (Asia's Longest Cable Car Base)

The lower terminal of Asia's longest 4.15 km passenger cable car system, connecting Joshimath (1,906 m) directly to Auli Top (3,019 m) in 20 minutes across forested gorges with bird's eye views of Nanda Devi.

6. Vishnuprayag Sangam & Sacred Confluence of Alaknanda and Dhauliganga (12 km)

The first of the Panch Prayag, where the swirling turquoise Alaknanda River meets the frothing white torrents of the Dhauliganga River, featuring an ancient Vishnu temple and stone ghats.

7. Bhavishya Badri Temple & Future Badri Shrine in Subhai Pine Woods (17 km)

Located in the serene pine forests of Subhai village (altitude: 2,744 m), this sacred shrine is prophesied to become the principal seat of Lord Badri Vishal when the route to Badrinath is blocked in the Kali Yuga.

8. Tapovan Sulphur Hot Springs & Dhauliganga Valley Geothermal Springs (14 km)

Natural sulfur hot water springs bubbling out of mountain crevices in the Dhauliganga valley (14 km from Joshimath), renowned for therapeutic mineral properties and views of Nanda Devi.

9. Govindghat & Gateway to Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib (18 km)

A bustling riverside township along the Alaknanda where the Bhyundar Ganga meets, serving as the motorable base for treks to the UNESCO Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara.
