Dunda is a Tehsil in Uttar Kashi District of Uttarakhand State, India. Dunda Tehsil Head Quarters is Dunda town. It is located 11 KM towards west from District head quarters Uttarkashi. Handloom cluster of Dunda (Uttarkashi) in Uttarakhand is a century old traditional craft practiced by inhabitants of the area. The inhabitants of this location did not have any other options but to take up this weaving as an occupation to earn their livelihood. Dunda Cluster area is mostly dominated by Bhotia Community whose principal occupation is weaving and they referred as weaver class in the Society. Most of the weavers in the cluster area do posses an individual unit of handloom in the common households and the family members support the main weaver in all ancillary weaving activities.
