Kalpa is a heritage mountain settlement perched at 9,711 feet (2,960 metres) directly above the district headquarters of Reckong Peo in Kinnaur. Celebrated for its jaw dropping panoramic view of the sacred Kinner Kailash massif, it is the most famous scenic viewpoint in Himachal Pradesh.
Every morning, the rising sun illuminates the 79 foot high natural rock monolith (Shivling) standing atop the 19,850 foot Kinner Kailash summit.
