It is a municipality in Samastipur district in the Indian state of Bihar. it is a trade location due to its position located on the trade route of the river Budhi Gandak. It is an active hub for business for agriculture, carpets, jewellery, medicine etc. As it is the birthplace of Krishna Karak, so this place is considered as a pilgrimage for Kabirpanthis. It does have a vast history. It was initially a portion of North Bihar. It was under the strong hold of the British. The city has undergone several changes and the city progresses a lot.
